Bruce Makous

Chief Advancement Officer of the Society Bruce Makous, ChFC, CAP, CFRE, has been a professional fundraiser for 32 years, most recently serving as chief development officer for ACLU of Pennsylvania. He has held previous positions with American Association for Cancer Research, Drexel University, and The American College. He is a noted author on such fundraising topics as legacy giving, donor cultivation, and ethics. He has served on the national board of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the international board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and has been named by the Nonprofit Times as one of the “Most Influential and Effective” fundraisers in the United States, an honor reserved for only 14 individuals annually.

Bruce has an M.A. from New York University and a B.A. from Oberlin College.
